About
The Chupacabra (transliteration: "goat sucker") is a legendary creature of the Americas. It is a legend that attempts to explain the strange phenomena of dead goats and other animals with bite marks with their blood sucked dry.
Origin
The first sights of this modern myth first date from 1995 in Puerto Rico, USA.[1] Eight sheep were found with their blood completely drained. Townsfolk suspected Satanists of the crime, yet this phenomena repeated itself across the island. After the name chupacabra was coined, more incidents were reported in the mainland US and throughout Central and South America.[1]
Spread
The legend of the chupacabra continued as more incidents happened. Eventually it was discovered that the beasts were real, however their appearances had been greatly exaggerated.[2] In 2006, it was found that the chupacabras had spread to Russia.[3]
