This flame war started when game company Bungie, popular for games Halo 1 – 3 and Halo: Reach, decided to reset user's accounts for using an exploit that gives the user infinite credits, used for buying armor in Halo: Reach.
Bungie said: "Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken."
The forum was soon hit with a wave of users claiming that they weren't guilty of using the exploit. Many of the users were trolls, attracted by the huge steaming pile of bait. Some of them were just people looking to get revenge on Bungie.
The main responses consist of things like "This is unfair", "F*** you Bungie", "Trololol you were banned", "Bungie will lose a lot of money" and "HAYLO ISS FUR NUBS COD IZ THE POWUR".
So among the trolls, the bait, and the rabid CoD fan-boys, there were a few honest people who admitted to using the exploit in an attempt to gain a higher rank and more credits.
