About The Super Mario World TV Series

Mama Luigi is a Youtube Poop/DeviantArt meme based upon the final cartoon of The Super Mario World cartoons
wich originally aired in 1991. It was paired with Captain N The Game Master, and was cancelled along with it. The show was based upon the The videogame Super Mario World , and was preceded by The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 and The Super Mario Bros Super show. They were based upon the Super Mario bros 3 and the original Super Mario Bros. video games, respectively.

The final cartoon of the series, entitled “Mama Luigi” features Luigi explaining to Yoshi how he found him. While the episode in itself is not particularly memorable, it does have some very memorable quotes like Like they say in Brooklyn, early to bed, early to catch the worm. Or is it the bagel? and Now I know how a meatball feels

But the most memorable quote comes at the end of the episode. Luigi has found a baby Yoshi, who keeps calling him mama. While Luigi is made fun of by Mario, in the end baby Yoshi helps beat Bowser, the villain of the series, which leads to Luigi accepting the title of Mama Luigi

Mario: " You didn´t tell me that you were bringing a secret weapon Luigi. "
Luigi: "That´s Mama Luigi to you, Mario! "

Rediscovery and rise to memehood

Around September 27 2004 Bryan Mulheran , a member of the Yoshi fan site Yoshiart.com recorded all the episodes of the Super Mario World TV show from the UK satellite Channel ‘Pop’ and encoded them for upload on the site. They could be downloaded, but it took a full 2 years for it to get reuploaded to Youtube.

On July 3rd, 2006, Youtube user LilKaria was the first to upload the full cartoon to Youtube.

On March 2nd, 2008, Youtube user Sophocles12 became the first to create a Youtube Poop using “Mama Luigi” as the source material.

“Mama Luigi” has become one of the more popular themes of Youtube Poop, which in turn inspired DeviantArt users to create their own “Mama Luigi” fan art.
