About

Paul Ryan's PowerPoint Presentation is a photoshop meme mocking a PowerPoint presented by Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan to explain the GOP's proposed Obamacare replacement in early March 2017.

Origin

On March 9th, 2017, Ryan delivered a 20-minute presentation containing charts and graphics, which described the Affordable Care Act as a "death spiral" (shown below). Additionally, the presentation contained a single slide about the GOPs plans for reform that said "There will be a stable transition to conservative health care reform."

Shortly after the presentation, Twitter user @Atrios[4] retweeted a photo of Ryan's PowerPoint presentation along with the message "photoshoppers, start your engines" (shown below, left). Minutes later, Twitter user @twolf10[6] posted a photoshopped picture of Ryan presenting #TheDress (shown below, right).

That evening, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert aired a segment mocking the PowerPoint presentation (shown below).

Also that evening, Colbert tweeted a photoshopped presentation screenshot in which Ryan demonstrates how to find a woman's clitoris (shown below).[5] Within 24 hours, the tweet gained over 31,000 likes and 9,200 retweets. In the coming days, several news sites published articles about the photoshop memes, including The Daily Dot,[7] Cosmopolitan[8] and Bustle.[9]

None of all these Twitter photoshop edits of signs, papers and anything similar are even near being as clever as actual real-life examples.

And we could go on forever.

Step up your meme game already, Twitter.

So, I might as well bring this up since it is one of the more meme worthy bits of yet another political article:

Ryans says that the problem with obama care is that the healthy people pay for the sick people.

As many of you might note- that is the entire concept of health insurance, or any insurance. Healthy people pay for the sick people because this is a ticket for getting that money themselves when they do later get sick. Same with auto insurance and any other insurance. It is placing a bet on murphy's law- that things will eventually go wrong.

This was likely just an exceedingly poor choice of words, of course, but it is the more meme worthy bit of this controversy article. Likely to spread well with ACA supporters that want to make the GOP look like idiots.
