UFO Phil first began to surface as a guest on various radio shows around the world. In 2002, a crude website popped up under the url Mynameisphil.com, later changed to UFOPhil.com. In 2005, he started making regular appearanes on the national occult radio show Coast to Coast AM with host George Noory. UFO Phil claims to be abducted by aliens, experiment with time travel, and basically dabble in all things paranormal. He says he is in contact with actual alien leaders from space. He writes songs about his paranormal experiences and has developed somewhat of a cult following. This has led to appearances on a few national TV shows and in a couple of films. He now lives in Hollywood, California and there are rumors of a new feature film and an Adult Swim type animated series in development.

UFO Phil is notable and is often referenced on message boards and blogs around the interwebs, for many reasons. He is a cult figure and is popular with paranormal fans, sci fi fans, and conspiracy theorists. He regularly pops up on the national talk radio program Coast to Coast AM with George Noory. And, he wrote and performs the theme song for the show. He was a regular fixture on the nerd-favorite Dr Demento radio show, even reaching the number 1 spot on the Funny Five Countdown. Phil has appeared with MTV legend Tom Green for segments on his show. UFO Phil is wrapped up in Star Wars subculture too, thanks to his notable appearance in the documentary film The People vs George Lucas (he wrote a song for that film as well).

Phil's catch phrase "Can you keep a secret" is often referenced on the web, in chatrooms and on message boards. And, whenever the subject of less-than-credible "alien abductees" is broached, it's common for a user to post an image or video of UFO Phil as a reply.
