On December 23rd, 2024, X^[1] user @listenupnerds posted an image macro using a photograph of Chet Hanks, most widely known online for his white boy Summer meme, captioned, "It's FW me Friday, y'all fucking w me?? Do y'all fw me?" The post gained over 6,500 likes in four months and is the earliest known use of the meme.

Spread

The Chet Hanks meme gained viral spread over the following weeks, with the phrase also becoming popularized on sites including X and Instagram, often used on Fridays. On December 29th, 2023, Instagram^[2] user @1223334444.4444333221 posted the meme, garnering over 29,000 likes in four months.

On January 5th and 12th, 2024, both Fridays, X^[3][4] user @midsmoker34 posted selfies with captions about FW me Friday, garnering over 1,500 likes each in three months (example shown below, left). On January 19th, X^[5] user @luvasalens posted a selfie announcing FW me Friday, garnering over 2,500 likes in three months (shown below, right).
