Super Mario Långben (SML) is the name of a character in a series of Swedish internet videos. The videos show panels from Disney comics with the original dialouge replaced with often nonsensical comments about what seem to happen in the specific panel. For instance, here is the dialogue in the first video Super Mario Långben Becomes Even Uglier between SML and MysPersson (MP):

SML: Today I feel like throwing things around me!
MP: You're making a bloody mess!
SML: Shut up! I don't give a damn about what you think you fucking dork!
MP: What the hell are you saying? Fancy a beating?
SML: Yeah, come on! I'm not afraid of you.
SML: Look here, I became long and ugly! Strange things happen!

The characters have new names, separate from their common Swedish names. Goofy is SML and Mickey Mouse is MysPersson (CosyJones), while Donald Duck is Mongo Från Yttre Rymden (Mongo From Outer Space) and his nephews are Ungjävlarna (Brats). Here is the Mongo video Mongo is Lazy:

Intro: Here comes Mongo From Outer Space! He's lazy as hell!
Mongo: I'm so fucking tired I'll go by moped while you'll have to run your butt off.
M: Hey, don't run so bloody fast, my hand's getting tired damn it.
Brat: But then I'll miss the chance of winning one million crowns [Swedish currency] in the race.
M: Shut up, can't you see I'm tired.
M: Don't run so fucking fast you worthless nobody.
B: But I want to win.
M: Honk!
M: Get out of my way!
B: But Mongo!
M: Now you shut up Brat, or you'll be disinherited.
M: OK, run without watching your step.
M: Why the hell are you stopping? I was going to kill you.

The background music to the SML videos is Puff, the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul and Mary, and to the Mongo videos it's Coco by Mats & Morgan^[1]. The voices are synthezied in the Mac program Speech and have an American pronounciation despite being Swedish which adds to the humor. There's a total of 39 videos with the bulk made 2000-2006^[2]. From 2001 to 2009 there where special Christmas episodes that imitated the long Swedish tradition of showing a Disney Christmas special from the 50s during Christmas Eve on TV.^[3]

Origin

The first video, Super Mario Långben Becomes Even Uglier, was made in 2000 along with the first Mongo video Mongo is Lazy. The creators call themselves Simonize and Woodgrove. As of 2012, Woodgrove still makes these videos, mostly on LAN parties.

Spread

Statistics before 2004 is hard to come by, but since 2005 it seems the interest has dwindled. Views on Youtube are typically in the tens of thousands.

Derivative

There are countless fan videos which can be found on Youtube (searching for "fanmongo"). These have their own characters, as for instance Mongos Finnish twin brother^[4].
