Surprised My Wife Today is a series of three-panel exploitable images in which a husband reveals surprises his wife with something that she would not want nor care about.

Origin

On March 21st, 2018, Twitter ^[1] user @bottlerocket posted a sequence of images featuring him revealing to his wife he placed #1 in the video game Fortnite to his wife. His wife appears uninterested in the surprise. He captioned the post, "Surprised my wife today! 💕" Within three months, the post (shown below) received more than 51,000 retweets and 136,000 likes.

Spread

Following the post, people responded to the post with the same series of image but the last panel changed. For example, Twitter^[2] user @Yoshi1up responded by posting the series with a melting pizza in the oven in panel three. The post (shown below, left) received more than 50 retweets and 200 likes in three months.

Days later, ShitpostBot 5000 user SKYZER096 posted a template of the meme in which the third panel is missing.

On April 17th, the Twitter^[3] account @offensivemem3s_ shared a version by Twitter^[4] user @rohanchouhan98 in which the wife is surprised by a sink filled with dirty dishes. The post (shown below, center) received more than 5,000 likes and 5,500 retweets in two months.

Two months later, on June 24th, Instagram^[5] account @grapejuiceboys posted a variation in which the wife is surprised by a duck at the door. The post (shown below, right) received more than 22,000 likes.
