Yarping started in Wayne State College in Wayne Nebraska. It was originally conceived in a post by a man, who wished to name anonymous, who was hacking another friends left-open facebook account. After a slur of random wall posts, he posted the opening lyric to a song by The Roommates, called Chad's Load III, which was "They call me chilly the penguin! YARP YARP YARP YARP YARP YARP YARP YARP". And then it became the trademark hacking callsign.

From then on, whenever someone would hack another persons profile at WSC, the initial post would always be something dealing with Yarp. Since then it has spread around past Wayne, Nebraska.

Yarping is not to be confused with the line from the movie Hot Fuzz, where Simon Pegg answers the phone with Yarp, and then Narp.
