This is figuratively true. While anteaters aren't related to pangolins, they do occupy the same niches in their respective niches (tree-and ground-dwelling insectivores that eat ants) and as such, have similar bodies due to convergent evolution. The similarities are large enough that the pangolins are informally called "scaly anteaters" and were in the same biological order until genetic research revealed otherwise.
