The Resident Evil movies are considered a joke. In general, live-action adaptations are reviled by people. Netflix produces an animated Castlevania that's actually well loved.

There was the script for the first RE movie by George Romero, it was way more faithful to the games (though still changed a lot of stuff) but apparently got rejected because Capcom worried that if the movie was too similar to the games then people would stop buying the games.
