Rick & Morty and it's effects on western media have been a disgrace for the human species.

Lampshading it's a dangerous spice: Used sparingly it can lead to amusing, even hilarious results… but when you start dumping it everywhere, on industrial quantities, and without any restrain, it just becomes overpowering and obnoxious.

Like most other tropes in existence, I still believe it can be done right, but Marvel and Rick & Morty's overuse has turned it sour for a lot of us… so it might be better to give it a rest for few years. : P
