Let me tell you why that's bullshit.

People blame Hasbro because they defend their intellectual property by shutting down many fan project. What people don't know is that copyright infringement is not the same as trademark infringement. I don't want to go into details, so long story short. You don't have to defend your copyrights, you won't lose it no matter what. But when someone infringe your trademark, you MUST intervene or you will lose the trademark. It's all about trademark infringement here. Hasbro owns "My Little Pony" trademark. You can use ponies from MLP, but you need to include disclaimer to avoid possible copyright infringement. To use "MLP" in title or somewhere else you need a licence to avoid trademark infringement. In that case, pony creators should do what IDW did – ask for permission to use the trademark. Both "MLP: Online" and "MLP: Fighting is Magic" used Hasbro's trademark without permission, so Hasbro was forced to intervene. Notice how long did it take for Hasbro to take care of that – Hasbro knew about these projects for quite a long time. Someone else must have pointed trademark infringement and forced Hasbro to react.

I highly doubt Hasbro hates bronies. We just have to start doing things according to copyright law and they won't have to fight.
