That’s normal. They’re called floaters. They’re basically microscopic imperfections in the gel of your eyes. What you’re seeing is the shadow being cast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floater

there are always these colourful worm- and amoeba-like things floating arount and when i try to look straight at them they flee to the corner of my field of vision
