Goddammit, Orwell… Your book was supposed to be a warning, not a guideline!

Orwell was smart. if his books were to be a warning against this sort of thing, he wouldn’t open your mind to it for the possibility of abuse.

it was already in existence, he didn’t invent it, he brought that sort of thinking to it’s logical conclusion to show it’s effects.

It was a warning and it worked. people are using his book as shorthand for this sort of thinking and most importantly, they are using it correctly. people have been warned, an idea has been set. But Orwell did not create this line of thinking.
