I think the Nuts and Bolts design was meant to invoke feelings of the N64 since it had a "semi blocky" look to it, but I guess what design is used really depends on if Banjo-Kazooie make it. We know Microsoft gave the a-okay for them to appear since they know Banjo-Kazooie has a Nintendo related legacy, but we have to see if Sakurai will give the a-okay as well.

(plus Microsoft's pretty cool with Nintendo overall, once of the whole reasons they bought Rare originally was to try and get some of that Nintendo magic, but once Rare lost most of its best people Microsoft went "well shit, what do we do with these guys now?" and made them a dedicated Kinect studio)
