A lot of guys like that stuff (after all it's there to cater to them) and they take criticism of it very personally. It's a very basic argument over whether games should be "publicly acceptable" to the huge variety of people who play them, or if they should cater to the tastes of a self-proclaimed male gamer elite. In a sense feminists ARE attacking the culture of these guys, telling them that the games they love aren't actually aimed at them any more and that they are no longer representatives of a favored elite.
