Every time Yellow Diamond tries to kill Steven, he will instead treat her in a way that puts him off her mark.
Basically, Steven shoving her with distractions without knowing she's evil.

I can't be the only one that thinks Peridot would at the very least tolerate Steven if they ever had some alone time.
