I'm just going to step in and stop the inevitable pseudo-/r/atheism circlejerk before it begins.
Note how most of the groups here (listed in a link in the description) are primarily militant groups rather than religious ones. This is because Israel was, historically, an incredibly strategic place to be. As it's the only land route between three whole continents, whoever had control of Israel had control of all the trade going through, and thus loads of money and power. So many groups came in to take over the place that whoever owns it is still quite disputed today.
That is to say, the vast majority of the warfare in the region was not caused by religion, but by militant countries' thirst for power (i.e. the usual reason for wars).
