About
Trumputin is a portmanteau of the names Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, which is often accompanies photoshops combining features of the two men or speculations about an intimate relationships between the heads of state.
Origin
On Ocotber 26th, 2015, the @donaldtrumpdoingthings[2] Instagram feed posted a photoshopped picture of Vladirmir Putin's face superimposed over Donald Trump with the caption "Trumputin" (shown below). Within two years, the post gained over 870 likes and 100 comments.
Spread
In January 2016, the @Trumputin Twitter feed was launched, which describes itself as a promoter of "free markets, free speech" and against "global government." The feed's profile picture features a photoshop of Vladimir Putin with Donald Trump's signature hairstyle (shown below).
On July 28th, 2016, the TrumPutin Facebook[1] page was launched, which highlights internet memes mocking the relationship between Trump and Putin. The following day, Redditor alphabets00p submitted a photoshop of Putin holding a child with Trump's face to the /r/EnoughTrumpSpam[5] subreddit (shown below, left). On January 5th, 2017, the @trumpmememe[3] Instagram page posted another photoshop of Putin's face superimposed over Trump's (shown below, right). Over the next five weeks, the picture garnered upward of 680 likes.
On January 14th, 2017, YouTuber PortraitPainter Pabst uploaded a speed painting of Putin with Donald Trump's hair titled "Mr. Trumputin" (shown below).
