Most of the time, memes should not be used in advertising. It doesn't matter what they're advertising. They just really don't work. It's just difficult for Arby's or your local church to replicate internet humor. Instead, they almost always come off as a pathetic attempt to win over the younger generation's approval for their product, service or religious movement. And it clearly doesn't have that effect.
Corporate memes generally exist only to make everyone uncomfortable, and we don't think these attempts at meme marketing led to any actual success.
