One of the most cringeworthy things you can stumble upon is watching someone try to backpedal their way out of something they obviously did. It's the classic "my friend took my phone" or "I was hacked" in response to a concerned and confused reply about the original message, which is usually out of pocket and unwarranted. This seems to happen a lot with people trying to flirt. They send a risky text off into the world, it comes back with a less than favorable response, and then crowd control ensues.

It's always painfully obvious that they did in fact mean to send the original message, but it's funny watching them try to claw their way back to mercy. This also happens with people trying to pass off very deliberate photos as accidents. "My kid had my phone!" is a common one by Instagram mom influencers. Whatever the case may be, it makes for a truly awkward and cringeworthy situation for all parties involved. Just own up to your decisions. Maybe it was a bad decision, but at the very least, make it yours.
