22 'Half-Life' Sound Effect Dubs To Celebrate 22 Years Of Science Gone Horribly Wrong
The original Half-Life turns 22 years old this week. It's a momentous anniversary for a beloved video game series that's notorious for never getting the third installment, especially since they released an unnumbered third installment, Half-Life Alyx, in March.
Why is the series so popular after all this time? For starters, there were excellent characters. As your hero Dr. Gordon Freeman escaped from an alien-infested research facility, you encountered other scientists who could help you … if they didn't get gruesomely killed first. Non-combat allies were almost unheard of in action-shooter games back then, and the scientists made such an impression that they still inspire memes and fan works to this day.
This work isn't limited to series like Half-Life VR But the AI Is Self-Aware, but extends to replacing audio from unrelated memes and videos with the scientist's original voices. This has now evolved to replacing every single sound clip with sound effects from Half-Life, from the explosions right down to the footsteps. Enjoy some of the best examples below, and cross your fingers for a game with "3" in the name.
