Many of us have grown up with SpongeBob, and it has a special place in our hearts, so when the photograph of a real-life SpongeBob and Patrick came out recently, the number of memes out there grew. A marine biologist named Christopher Mah shared the image online of a real yellow square-shaped sponge and pink starfish next to one another, which was taken by a remotely operated deep-sea device. It returned this picture, which amused millions when they saw the striking resemblance, leading to a resurgence in memes based on the series.

SpongeBob SquarePants is undeniably one of the best shows out there (in its earlier seasons, of course).
