April 20th would be just like any other day if not for some long-ago forgotten stoners and the time they got high every day. Thanks to them, and everyone who's followed in their footsteps, today is an irreverent and secretive celebration, but one that's lost all meaning as weed culture has shifted and metastasized over the years. In meme culture though, meaninglessness is something to be celebrated and iterated on: Memes started dank, now they're deep-fried and so referential as to not actually mean anything on their own terms.
