Every scrap of Pokémon news is destined to be a big deal on the internet, but the Pokémon Company's July 8th, 2019 trailer was, for some reason, a monumental event. Not a lot new information about the games were revealed, at least mechanically, but we did see some new characters and Pokémon. Perhaps the ongoing controversy about Sword and Shield's lack of a national Pokédex helped interest in the trailer surge, or perhaps people really are just that horny for feet. Regardless, the trailer introduced the internet to three new meme stars: the creamy Alcremie, the shoeless gym leader Bea, and the Hot Topic scene ghost boy Allister.
