Twitter Debates Canceling Vince Vaughn For Shaking Donald Trump's Hand
Last night Louisana State University and Clemson University may have played each other in a college football championship game, but more eyes were focused on a handshake that took place in the audience. In a 30-second clip posted by former Deadspin and Daily Beast contributor Timothy Burke, actor Vince Vaughn is seen sitting next to First Lady Melania Trump and President Trump and engaging in conversation. Before the clip ends, Vaughn shakes Trump's hand, and the minute the clip was posted to Twitter, it was all anyone could really talk about and soon the actor's name was trending.
I'm very sorry to have to share this video with you. All of it, every part of it. pic.twitter.com/ELMbDHZbZq

And so began the debate of whether or not the actor should be cancelled.
Ladies & gentlemen, I regret to inform you Vince Vaughn is CANCELED https://t.co/942rLYf8ZR

One user referred to the incident shared between Ellen DeGeneres and former President George W. Bush.
Ellen thought she had it rough… Keep Vince Vaughn in your prayers tonight. pic.twitter.com/5MPeO6Znc6

Others were eager to include Vaughn's name alongside many of the other vocal Trump supporters.
Throw Vince Vaughn in the pile of broken toys with Scott Baio, Jon Voight and the rest of the Trump Supporters

Many reflected on how disappointed they were in Vaughn, especially since they've enjoyed his acting work.
I’m not angry about Vince Vaughn, just profoundly disappointed. And I want nothing more to do with him. Once upon a time I found him quite entertaining. Not anymore. pic.twitter.com/vB5pDCFcbA

One user joked how current presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren might use this scenario to increase her poll numbers.
Elizabeth Warren's sole chance to get back in the race to propose a drone strike on Vince Vaughn

While many pointed out that they already knew Vaughn had ties to the Republican Party, they still were upset.
Sad. Vince Vaughn is one of my favorites. I always knew he was Republican but this, so gross.

I don't need a Wedding Crashers sequal anymore. https://t.co/QaNcNb889s
Some felt the actor shaking the President's hand meant he agreed with everything Trump has done.
Vince Vaughn had the chance to stand up to a rapist, traitor, and child murderer, and instead he enthusiastically shook Donald Trump’s hand. Fuck em both.

Others weren't even surprised.
I’m not sure why people are surprised by Vince Vaughn willingly spending time with Trump. He’s a wealthy white guy, the assumption should be that all of them are MAGA until proven differently. pic.twitter.com/XLSJR3iYf0

A chorus of people supporting Vaughn was also present on Twitter.
Vince Vaughn is one of my favorites. Back off the canceling, stage five clingers.

The actor's history of support for conservative candidates was brought up many times.
People didn't know Vince Vaughn is a Conservative?

He has been … for like, ever.
Get over it. :)
One user brought up how the actor had even supported Rand Paul in the 2016 election.

Some joked how they were praying for those upset by the handshake.
To all those dealing with personal emotions over the Vince Vaughn incident, I just want to say my thoughts are with you at this difficult moment

One user requested that we all return to the days of not caring about Vince Vaughn.
Can we please all return to not giving a fuck about Vince Vaughn? thank you.
— Michelle (@SoSofieFatale) January 14, 2020
And how the whole incident is something neither parties should actually care about.
Vince Vaughn talking to Trump doesn’t matter.
— Liddle’ Savage (@littledeekay) January 14, 2020
What Bernie said to Warren one time in a private conversation hardly matters.
The fact that Trumpis allowing Russia to take over our elections matters a whole fucking lot.
Focus, people.
Louisana State University wound up winning the game 42-25.
