First things first, in case you're completely lost already, Vaporeon is a lovely Pokémon from the first generation of Pokemon video games. It is one of the first three "Eeveelutions," a Water-type, and is usually a tanky, heavy-hitting Pokémon in gameplay.

Why Is Vaporeon Associated With Meme Culture?

Here's where things get … "interesting." So aside from the character's presence in Pokemon, Vaporeon is also the subject of one of the internet's most infamous copypastas.

Back in 2018, a 4chan user had a very "4chan-y" thought and listed all the qualities of Vaporeon that make it suitable for human mating (click below to read it in its full glory, no turning back now).

As those familiar with the Vaporeon copypasta know, this anon doesn't simply think Vaporeon has the cutest face and that makes it the most s*x-able. No, the copypasta's terrifying power comes from the anon's incredible specificity in outlining a logistically sound argument for why Vaporeon, of all the hundreds of Pokémon out there, is fit for human breeding.

The anon's deep knowledge of Vaporeon's height, weight, abilities and move pool make his comment bar none the most convincing argument for a specific Pokémon's sexual compatibility with humans that exists online. If anyone wanted to challenge him, they would have to go down the same, shameful rabbit hole that the Vaporeon anon did, and that's a bridge too far for many.

How Did The Vaporeon Copypasta Go Viral And Become A Meme?

As you can likely tell, the comment was too thorough and too horrible to not go viral, and soon it was reposted to meme hubs on Reddit, where many unwitting souls had to have their thoughts on Vaporeon forever sullied. From there, the copypasta got YouTube readings — in case you wanted to hear what the Vaporeon copypasta sounds like when an actual human says it out loud.

Nowadays, the mere mention of the word "Vaporeon" is enough to activate internet users' fight-or-flight, and many have made memes about quashing references to the copypasta before they rear their ugly heads.
