Ezra Miller started their acting career as a teenage heartthrob, playing the handsome misfit role in many 2000s and 2010s movies. Since their fandom has grown, they've been in the midst of arrests, scandals and rumors regarding kidnapping, assault, a cult and both the states of Hawaii and Vermont. In turn, The Flash star has inspired countless memes on social media.

In 2022, when someone sees "Ezra Miller" trending on their Twitter feed, they expect the most obtuse headline, ready to spin it into a meme or funny tweet. However, now that there are so many memes about the nonbinary actor, it's hard to keep track of the growing timeline of their crime and increasingly odd public image.

Let's explain all of this Ezra Miller lore and how the internet came to this weird perception of the actor's hilariously unlikely villain arc.

Did Ezra Miller Choke A Woman In Iceland?

The short answer is, yes. Back in April 2020, Ezra Miller was vacationing in Iceland when they choked out one of their female fans at a bar in Reykyavik. It was first reported on by TMZ and posted to YouTube on April 6th by the channel John Talks. Since then, it's received roughly 1.2 million views. The scandal proved to be the first of many related to Miller and assault.

What Happened With Ezra Miller In Hawaii?

Even though everyone thought the Iceland video was questionable, the discourse surrounding Miller as a dangerous person died down going into the early 2020s. However, this all changed in March 2022 when The Independent reported that Miller had been issued a restraining order in Hawaii from a couple who said they'd, "burst into their bedroom and threatened them."

The event happened on March 29th. Two days prior to that, Miller had allegedly harassed patrons at a karaoke bar, yelling obscenities, grabbing a mic from a singing woman and lunging at a man playing darts. A video later surfaced that showed Miller at another bar in Hawaii, dancing in a drunken manner.

The concoction of all these reports and pieces of media stirred discourse and memes on social media. Many of these memes referenced Miller's Iceland scandal. Therefore, a consciousness was growing of Miller's chaotic, public tendencies.

Why Did Ezra Miller Make A Video About The KKK?

Ezra Miller did post an Instagram Story in January 2022 that threatened the Beulaville chapter of the North Carolina Ku Klux Klan (KKK). He suggested that they just kill themselves with their own guns, as well as personally threatened them with their own firearms.

According to YouTuber Nerdette's NewsStand and others, Miller's reasoning for threatening the KKK was because of a house fire that happened in Beulaville, North Carolina the day before. It was suspected to be a racially motivated arson perpetuated by the Klan and was reported on by the local news outlet The Duplin Times.

What's Up With Ezra Miller And Tokata Iron Eyes?

In June 2022, allegations surfaced that Ezra Miller had supplied a minor named Tokata Iron Eyes with alcohol, marijuana and LSD when she was only 12 back in 2016.

The two first met when the actor was visiting Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. Tokata's parents levied the allegations, saying Miller flew her out to London in 2017 to visit the studio where Fantastic Beasts was being filmed. She was 14 at the time and Miller was 25.

Tokata's parents stated they flew to Miller's home in Vermont in 2022 to take Tokata home. There, they discovered she didn't have her driver's license, car keys and bank card. Bruises were also seen on Tokata's body, which they alleged Ezra caused.

The scandal inspired more memes, based on the obscurity of the scene described in the news headlines. Miller's villain arc seemed to be growing exponentially in early 2022, with no sign of slowing down. Therefore, the memes condemning the actor were only getting louder and more common.

Why Did Ezra Miller Delete Their Instagram Account After Posting Memes?

Later in June 2022, it was reported that Miller made posts to their Instagram Story that mocked the authorities who were looking for them. Screenshots of the Instagram memes were shared online, which some found to be objectively hilarious given their "outlaw" context.

Did Ezra Miller Kidnap A Kid And Mother?

This allegation was levied in an article from Rolling Stone in late June 2022, when unearthing more Miller drama was at peak trendiness. Ultimately, Rolling Stone interviewed the anonymous father and husband of a mother and child who Miller brought to their Stamford, Vermont farmhouse, which was reportedly filled with guns and marijuana.

Rolling Stone also collected a statement from the mother in question, who said she was escaping abuse and left her husband without warning in Hawaii. Their child was 3 years old.

What's Up With Ezra Miller's Felony Burglary In Vermont?

The latest scandal that's added to the Miller crimewave is a felony burglary that was committed by them in Stamford, Vermont back in May 2022. The Vermont State Police filed a police report in August that identified Miller as the suspect, allegedly invading a home and stealing alcohol bottles.

As the news hit Twitter of Miller's charge, humorous reactions surfaced that referenced their long history of crime-related controversies.
