What if, instead of getting out of bed, getting dressed and putting on your makeup, you could lie in bed and watch someone else do all that? Well, now you can thanks to GRWM videos, also known as "Get Ready With Me" videos, where content creators show off their daily routines for your entertainment.

But there's more to the genre than just morning routines. If you're still a bit confused or looking for more information on how this whole trend started, keep reading for the full scoop.

Where Does "GRWM" Come From?

The earliest apparent Get Ready With Me video was uploaded in January 2011 by YouTuber Shaaanxo, who still uploads GRWM videos to this day. The videos became some of her most popular, and other beauty YouTubers took inspiration. It's unknown who first abbreviated the term to "GRWM," but the acronym became more popular over the years as the genre did, especially on TikTok where the hashtag "#GRWM" boasts over 28 billion total views as opposed to the 4 billion views on "#getreadywithme."

How Is GRWM Used On Social Media?

GRWM is most often used as a hashtag in video titles and captions to let viewers know they're about to see someone getting ready for something. The videos themselves often consist of someone putting on makeup or getting dressed (or both) and sometimes giving a tutorial along the way.

Other times they'll just use music in the background or spill the tea as they get ready. You can also use GRWM as an acronym in conversation.
