A Snapchat post of an older woman sitting on a bed, captioned, "Okay So There's a 56-Year-Old Woman Here," is one of the most potent reaction images out there, according to its diehard believers.

The Snapchat story was seemingly taken at a party where, for some odd reason, a middle-aged lady was partaking in the festivities. The 2019 film Ma is one of the only other pieces of media that captures the same feeling.

This meme has resurfaced on Twitter / X this week, making many wonder who created the "Okay So There's a 56-Year-Old Woman Here" meme? What's the story, and how is it being used online? Let's explain.

Where Did The 'Okay So There's A 56-Year-Old Woman Here' Meme Come From?

Unfortunately, the official Snapchat user who posted this story has not yet revealed themself and no concrete record of the video's creator has been discovered. However, it first spread in April 2021.

At the time, the video version of the meme was more well-known. Since then, just a still screenshot has mostly spread online.

In the video, two boys seemingly confront an older woman at a party. She plops down on a bed away from the noise and gives them the stink eye as the youngsters hoot and holler off-camera.

The first-known viral repost of the video was shared by a TikToker in July 2021. The repost is what largely propelled the meme's popularity heading into the decade.

Curiously, the video was already low-quality. An HD version with a wider crop (possibly showing the Snapchat user's handle) has not yet been found.

How Is The 'Okay So There's A 56-Year-Old Woman Here' Meme Used Online?

The moment when the woman looks into the camera, with a seemingly guilty expression, was screenshotted and reposted across the internet soon after its virality on TikTok.

One the earliest iterations of the meme was posted by a Twitter user, aptly named @fartshopping, in June 2022. The post was about singer Kate Bush being on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the time because Bush's 1985 song "Running Up That Hill" had gone viral on TikTok thanks to its use in Stranger Things.

The image's use has largely stayed true to the joke in the original video. Internet users attach it in quote-tweets and comment sections to call out old people for being out of place in a young person setting.

Of course, what constitutes "old" and "young" is subjective. To an 18-year-old, 25 is old, and to a 25-year-old, 30 is old. Usually, the smaller the age gap referenced in the meme, the funnier, nicher and more hyperbolic the joke becomes.

What Are Some Other 'Okay So There's A 56-Year-Old Woman Here' Memes?

Over the years, the "Okay So There's a 56-Year-Old Woman Here" meme has become well-known through its viral use online. Most chronically online people have seen it at least twice, and maybe a recaption or two as well.

There's still room for growth, especially now that the meme's having a revival, mostly because people have rediscovered the original video. A lot of people had not seen the video, meaning that exploitable video usage could be next.

Who knows, maybe a few Viggle AI iterations are coming next.
