What Is A 'Medbed' And Are They Real? The Viral Conspiracy Theory Shared In A Now-Deleted AI Video Posted By Donald Trump Explained

U.S. President Donald Trump recently posted and deleted a concerning AI-generated video on his platform Truth Social, and it's got a lot of people wondering about "medbeds."
The video, which appears to show Trump announcing "medbed hospitals" in the U.S., caused a lot of backlash from those familiar with QAnon conspiracy theories and simply confused everyone else.
So, what is a medbed? Is it a real thing, and why did President Trump post that video? Here's what we know.

What Is A 'Medbed' And Are They Real?
The idea of medbeds has been a concept in sci-fi for a long time, although the exact origins aren't clear. The term combines "medical" and "bed" to describe a bed that can heal someone of drastic injuries and medical ailments simply by lying in it.
Sometimes medbeds are shown to hook up to the user through tubes or wires, and other times it's left ambiguous how they work, blending science with magic.
In a similar fashion, the medbed conspiracy theory claims that these beds exist, but they're being withheld from the general public by the government and "big pharma" so they can keep profiting off people's illnesses.
The conspiracy theories have been gaining prevalence online since the late 2010s and became more common throughout 2020 and 2021, when some people started making and selling medbeds, claiming that they can heal everything from cancer to Alzheimer's naturally by using something called "life force energy."
Medbeds are largely considered a scam. One company that used to sell them even got a warning from the FDA about selling the products as medical devices without authorization. As far as we all know, there is no "life force energy," and there is no way to channel it and use it to heal people.
Regardless, this conspiracy theory spread far and wide across social media in the early 2020s thanks to conspiracy theorists and grifters, resulting in many attempts to debunk the claims and shut down misinformation.
Now, they're back in the media after a very powerful man shared an AI-generated video about medbeds.

Did Donald Trump Announce 'Medbed Hospitals' In The U.S.?
U.S. President Donald Trump dropped a surprising video on his Truth Social account on September 27th, 2025. The video, which is very clearly AI-generated, is a fake news report in which the newscaster claims that Trump has announced "medbed hospitals."
The report claims that every U.S. citizen will get a "medbed card" to access these hospitals, which allow for the use of medbeds to heal any and all medical ailments.
The post was deemed bizarre by many and garnered Trump a lot of pushback on social media. Shortly after it was posted, it was deleted, although the exact reason why is unknown.
Now, people are wondering why President Trump posted it at all, with some suggesting that he himself got tricked by the AI and thought that he actually did announce medbed hospitals, but somehow forgot.
I remember when Joe Biden got tricked by an AI video of himself announcing a miracle cure bed for every disease all at once. Oh wait. That was trump this morning. This is going to really mess people up and make them trust government even less. pic.twitter.com/4kU8mXn5XF
