The Easter holiday was celebrated on Sunday across the world, which is a Christian festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. As many aunts, uncles and parents shared the most thoughtful and wholesome images of the importance of the holiday, some netizens decided to use humor to join the religious celebration by claiming Jesus had Rizz, the internet slang term for "charisma," sort of.

Here's how the internet created the "He has rizzen" phrasal template meme.

Where Does The Phrase 'He Has Rizzen' Come From?

"He has rizzen" is a phrasal template in which certain words are replaced with another to produce new variations with altered meanings. In this case, the original phrase comes from the Bible verse Matthew 28:5-6 which announces Jesus' resurrection and says "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said."

X user @CA_TheDon tweeted one of the earliest jokes about the phrasal template on January 6th, 2023, saying "I can't wait for Easter so I can tweet 'he has RIZZen," in which he replaced the word "risen" with the slang "rizz." (shown below)

How Did 'He Has Rizzen' Become A Viral Meme On Easter?

Almost a year later, rizz has been segmented as one of the most popular Internet slang, being featured in a series of other memes. So, when 2024's Easter holiday approached, many netizens hoped on the "he has rizzen" snowclone meme to share the best images and edits with their takes of Jesus with rizz.

For example, on March 31st, 2024, X user @CommieKnoxville posted a drawing of Jesus wearing jeans and the overlay text "he has rizzen" (shown below, left) and on the same day, X user @AlexNoonan6 posted a photoshopped image featuring the "You know I had to do it to 'em" meme inside Jesus' opened tomb (shown below, right) paired with the caption "he has rizzen."

TikTokers are also joining the meme by posting parody and comic skits about the phrase. For instance, on March 31st TikToker @notmr.bigchops69 used a Chad filter paired with the overlay text "Jesus on Easter."
