He Has Rizzen or He Is Rizzen refers to a catchphrase parodying the Matthew 28:5-6 Bible verse that says, "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." The phrase replaces the word "risen" for the slang term "rizz" as "rizzen," which sparked memes and jokes on Twitter / X in late March 2024 surrounding the Easter holiday.

Origin

Jokes about the Bible verse "He is risen" started to appear on X since January 2023, as X^[1] user @CA_TheDon tweeted on January 6th, 2023, "I can't wait for Easter so I can tweet 'he has RIZZen," in which he replaced the word "risen" for the slang "rizz." The post (shown below) amassed more than 10 likes and four retweets in a year.

One of the earliest viral posts mentioning the "he has rizzen" joke was posted on April 9th, 2023, by TikTok^[2] user @michaelsoepic. The video features a POV of Jesus' resurrection, which the creator named "Jesus Rizzurrection." The post (shown below) amassed over 149,000 plays and 22,400 likes in a year.

In late March 2024, close to the Easter holiday, "he has rizzen" memes started to appear on X and Reddit featuring photoshopped images of Jesus alongside the catchphrase. For example, on March 31st, 2024, X^[3] user @CommieKnoxville posted a drawing of Jesus wearing jeans and the overlay text "he has rizzen." The post (shown below, left) amassed roughly 20 likes in a day.

On the same day, X^[4] user @AlexNoonan6 posted a photoshopped image featuring the You Know I Had to Do It to Em meme inside Jesus' opened tomb (shown below, right) paired with the caption "he has rizzen." The post amassed more than 10,000 likes and 1,200 retweets in a day.
