Purportedly, the theory is derived from Psalms 34:19-20 in the Bible, which reads, "The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken." The theory claims that if you have never broken a bone you have been chosen to go through increased mental or spiritual hardships in life and, therefore, are being protected from the extra, physical burden of broken bones.
