Whatsup Homie, It's Tony is a catchphrase credited to the Chinese LED Sign Guy, a digital marketer for a Chinese LED sign agency best known for putting on a variety of accents to sell his Guangzhou-based company's signs online. Videos of Tony using a thick southern accent to sell customizable LED signs from LCSigns routinely gather millions of views on TikTok and Instagram, with many people finding humor in his Trump impressions in 2024.

Origin

Chinese Tony began posting videos to his company's Instagram[1] page on August 17th 2023, with gathering over 20,000 views on his first Instagram video.



However, videos posted by LCSign's various TikTok[6] accounts can be traced as far back as March 9th, 2023,

According to a May 3rd, 2024 interview posted by ThatsMags, Tony moved to the Guangdong province after getting a degree in English, knowing that his math skills weren't up to par. After joining LCSigns, Tony used his love of standup comedy to create a marketing gimmick that eventually garnered thousands of new customers for his company's business. In 2024, Tony and his team attended a signage convention in Orlando, Florida.[7]

On November 11th, 2023, X[2] user @GMomurder reposted one of Chinese Tony's videos, writing, "My ultimate goal in learning Chinese is to give people the same amount of whiplash that English speakers get from this video" The post gathered over 43,000 likes in a year.

On December 31st, YouTuber[3] Christopher's Factory posted a video about LCSign's sign factory and Chinese Tony's work doing digital marketing for them, gathering over 18,000 views in eleven months.



On March 16th, 2024, Redditor[4] /u/PlayStationPepe posted a video of Chinese Tony to /r/HydroHomies, gathering over 2,000 points on a post captioned, "Tony is officially a hydrohomie!"

On October 30th, 2024, a video of Chinese Tony doing a Trump impression to sell a sign gathered over 500,000 plays and 30,000 likes on Instagram.[5]
