What Is The 'Siren Gaze,' 'Siren Eyes' And 'Dark Femininity?'

Everyone's familiar with questionable, male pick-up culture, but many don't know about the female equivalent, also known as Dark Femininity. Alpha Males and their more under-spoken counterparts Sigma Males are social aficionados, ready to swoop in like Chads to every Stacy in the room.

However, women can do the same, using their Siren Gaze and Siren Eyes to seduce any man.

On TikTok and Twitter, these Girlboss tactics are being highlighted and emphasized more and more by women who want power over men.

But what do these terms mean? How does one mimic a "Siren" and its eyes? Trust us, you don't need to watch Euphoria to find the answer. Let's explain.

SIREN EYES

What Are "Siren Eyes?"

Siren eyes refer, first and foremost, to the Greek mythological creature, the Siren, being a dangerous, feminine creature that lures nearby sailors and ships with enchanting music and singing, similar to a mermaid. The most notable siren in pop culture is no doubt the Starbucks logo.

In the 2010s on social media platforms and internet blogs, makeup tutorials popularised the concept of "Siren Eyes." The style featured heavy eye makeup meant to draw attention to them, subsequently luring men into the trap.

The beauty trend spread to TikTok tutorials and ultimately led to an aesthetic comparison between "Does Eyes" and "Siren Eyes." These two terms were based on makeup lingo but were also embedded in physical expression.

What Is A "Siren Gaze?"

The term "Siren Gaze" was first referenced in TikToks in early 2022. Users posted about practicing their “Siren Gaze” just in time for Hot Girl Summer.

An account with the handle @secretsofasiren was one of the first to popularize the term. It posted videos that showed “tips” for attracting men using the "Siren Gaze." In one video, the account posted what might be the most accurate depiction of the "Siren Gaze" (if it does indeed exist). The video featured Euphoria star Maddy Perez who became a primary example for what to strive for.

Superimposed on her face in the video are the specific physical motions that are said to prove irresistible to any man, including; “Raise your eyebrows and narrow your eyes” and “open your mouth slightly to mimic an expression of pleasure."

What Is "Dark Femininity?"

Overall, "Dark Femininity" is the feminine practice of utilizing the "Siren" aesthetics to draw power out of men. One TikTok account called @darkfeminineguru is the primary source of this new wave of gender expression. They encourage manifestation, self-care, manipulation, being an empath, and above all else, "Dark Femme Summer." Some celebrity women are used as examples for this account including Marilyn Monroe, Megan Fox, Julia Fox, and again, Maddy Perez.
