On May 18th, 2019, Twitter user @sweetliketeaaa^[2] posted a selfie captioning it "I heard it’s a hot girl summer 👀" (show below, left). The tweet gained over 342 likes in two months. Many more Twitter users began posting selfies like @Ohlawditsmeshaa^[3] who captioned her photos, "Meg said it’s a hot girl summer. So guess what I’m doing all summer long? Cuttin’ up 😈" (shown below, right). The tweet gained over 300 likes in two months.

On June 25th, The Root posted an interview with Megan Thee Stallion to YouTube and asked her what it means to have a Hot Girl Summer (shown below). The video gained over 2,700 views in a week.
