As the year wraps up and Christmas time approaches, one meme is taking over TikTok. Quite simply, it's a guy singing "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" with a beautiful smile, glistening eyes and the voice of an angel. His name is AnucAtittawan and he's a user on the karaoke app Smule.

Ever since his female counterpart (Smule user @13336her) started reposting their videos to TikTok, he's been all over the app, inserted into multiple CapCut templates that are taking over the average user's "For You" page. The Smule couple singing multiple Christmas carols is just infectious.

So, who is the Smule singing man? What's up with AnucAtittawan? And why is his "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" video blowing up right now? Let's explain.

Who Is AnucAtittawan On Smule?

Even though he's known as the "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" guy on TikTok, Smule user AnucAtittawan has been a prevalent creator on his own app for quite some time. For those who are unfamiliar, the app Smule is kind of similar to TikTok, as in, it's designed for mini music videos. A Smule user selects a song that they want to sing like karaoke. Smule gives them an instrumental and lyrics so that they can record a video of them singing. They can also sing duets with other users, similar to the duet feature on TikTok.

AnucAtittawan is a prolific Smule user. His profile has over 17,000 followers and he's recorded over 123,000 recordings as of December 2022. In accordance with his bio, his first name is Anuc and he currently lives in Italy.

Where Is The Original "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" Video On Smule?

Last week, on December 9th, sweet ol' Anuc posted a cover of Nat King Cole's song "The Christmas Song" which, of course, has the leading lyrics "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Jack Frost nipping at your nose." A little later on the same day, he posted a duet cover of the song with the female Smule user @13336her. This second video is the one that went viral on TikTok.

Why Is The "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" Meme Going Viral On TikTok?

It all started with a repost from TikToker @heraloani on December 9th. TikToker @heraloani is the same woman as Smule user @13336her. She'd been reposting her own Smule videos as well as Anuc's for quite some time, however, her "The Christmas Song" duet is what went viral.

Of course, the real reason that Anuc's singing is going viral right now is because of how he pronounces the lyrics. He seems to an an "r" to the end of every verse. This auditory effect mixed with his wholesome aura has everyone on the app singing, "Chess Nuss Roting Orn Thernopen Fyeyeyeye," among other misheard lyrics.
