We see tons of fan art trends come and go at Know Your Meme, but occasionally one gets "the juice," transcending mere flash in the pan status and into full-blown meme territory.

That seems to be happening with Not Calling You Good Boy, an art trend that has exploded in popularity over the past few weeks.

Where Did The 'I'm Not Calling You Good Boy' Trend Begin?

On July 17th, 2024, Twitter / X artist sweepswoop_ posted fan art of "Delicious In Dungeon" characters Laios Touden and Kabru, with Laios staring at Kabru while blushing and Kabru angrily replying back, "I'm not calling you "Good Boy", that last meeting was s---!"

The characterization of the two characters in the piece aligns with how they're portrayed in the manga and anime, as Laios is a bit of an eager Himbo while Kabru is a more stern, level-headed adventurer.

How Did The 'Good Boy' Meme Spread?

Evidently, the piece struck a chord with many fan artists, as the depiction of Laios and Kabru proved amenable to many fictional pairings. The dynamic of a bumbling but earnest character wanting praise from a stern friend inspired others to redraw the template with characters from across media.

It even inspired a popular YouTube video. On July 21st, YouTuber SIlentManJoe posted a video with Team Fortress 2 characters acting out the scene, gaining over 100,000 views in less than three days.
