Two guys from Ukraine have captivated TikTok and YouTube with their eccentric Mukbang videos. They're called the Sushi Monsters, and yes, they're obsessed with eating sushi.

Other than their defining video style, the two have gained a massive following by generating meme content, predominantly due to their mispronunciation of English words that make great catchphrases to be spammed.

How Did The 'Sushi Monsters' Go Viral?

The Sushi Monsters first went viral on August 31st, 2022, when they uploaded their first video, showing Vlad eating sushi, to TikTok and YouTube. Each post gained millions of views, landing them front and center in the mukbang and ASMR communities. Going into early 2023, they rapidly gained a following on both platforms. What's The 'Black Pencil' Meme From 'Sushi Monsters?'

It's safe to say that a mass majority of the Sushi Monsters' following is based on their catchphrases, the most famous one being "Black Pencil." The meme started with a video they posted on March 6th, 2023, in which Vlad was met with a black-colored sausage that he called a "black pencil."

Going into the following months, Vlad started to call anything long and phallic a "pencil," ranging from "brown pencil" to "cheese pencil" and more. With the audience on TikTok, the saying was a big hit, leading to a spike in followers and fan-made memes.

What Is The 'Black Pencil' Song?

As stated, Sushi Monsters' pencil-related catchphrases were such a big hit on TikTok that it inspired the duo to record a song called "Black Pencil" in May 2023. They posted it to YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music where their fan base ate it up, and of course, made lots of memes.

What's The 'Amerima' Meme From 'Sushi Monsters?'

Sushi Monsters' other big meme is the way Vlad mispronounces "America." Instead of saying it right, he adds an extra "m," resulting in the mumbled utterance of "Amerima." This first occurred with a video they uploaded to TikTok on March 9th, 2023. Thereafter, it became a recurring gag on their channel.
