There's been a lot of talk in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul meme circles recently about everyone's favorite characters from the series, and by far, one of the most popular names that keeps coming up is Heisenbones. You remember Heisenbones; he's Walter White's comedy relief skeletal companion who's always eager to interject with a bone-related pun and lighten the mood when times get tough. If you're starting to feel the Mandela effect take hold right now, you're on the right track. Here's the full story.

Where Does Heisenbones Come From?

In case you haven't figured it out yet, Heisenbones is not a real character from Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. Heisenbones is actually a made-up character that memers are essentially trying to gaslight others into believing was in the series, kind of like Gumbly Simpson. Heisenbones was first posted to /r/196 in July 2022 in a meme that breaks the news that he doesn't exist, as if his existence was a well-known fact prior to this.

Over the next few weeks, users on both authentic and ironic Breaking Bad meme subreddits like /r/okbuddychicanery and /r/betterCallSaul ran with the joke and started photoshopping Heisenbones, a rather generic skeleton, into scenes from the show.

How Is Heisenbones Used In Memes?

Heisenbones is most often found in photoshopped screenshots from Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. He's portrayed as Walter and Jesse's assistant and something of a comedy relief character. In many of the memes, Heisenbones is captioned making a skeleton or bone-based pun. In other memes, he's photoshopped hanging out in some of the show's most pivotal scenes, often with captions that insist he's real.

The main point in the Heisenbones meme is to try and convince people, no matter how hard it might be, that he exists in the Breaking Bad universe. Some of the funniest ways people have done this are with a fake Wikipedia page and an otherwise unironic post to /r/betterCallSaul that gives the authentic appearance count for each character in the series and dares to include Heisenbones, claiming he appears in a total of 34 episodes between the two shows.
