Who Is TikTok's Equanaaa, aka 'The Oyster Girl'? The Atlanta Woman Who Ate 48 Oysters And Recorded Everything Explained
An Atlanta woman on TikTok with the username @equanaaa has been given the nickname The Oyster Girl because of a viral video in which she ordered 48 oysters on a date, resulting in the man walking out on the tab.
Filmed at Fontaine's Oyster House in Atlanta, Georgia, a local spot for many Atlantans, Equanaaa decided to film the entirety of her bad date, post it to TikTok and let the discourse ensue. Unfortunately for her (yet hilariously for the internet), many did not take her side, finding her documentation of the event objectively strange.
The "Oyster Girl" video has since spread to Twitter / X, however, what's the original video? Who is TikToker Equanaaa and what's the drama all about? Let's explain.
What Is The 'Oyster Girl' TikTok Video?
The original video was posted by TikToker Equanaaa on Wednesday, starting with her approaching "Fontaine's Oyster bar" and telling the viewer about how she was meeting up with a man that she was not interested in.
As the video continued, it was apparent that Equanaaa could not keep her phone in her pocket, seemingly having it out the entire time with the flash on to record four plates of oysters (48 oysters) touch down on the table. Plus, she ordered many drinks and an extra plate of potatoes and crab cakes.
The video ended with Equanaaa saying that the man had walked out on the tab, leaving her to pay. It also looked like she gave the waiter or waitress something close to a $15 tip.

What's The Discourse Surrounding The 'Oyster Girl' Video?
Discourse, reactions and memes about the "Oyster Girl" video predominantly started when it was reposted to X by user @MotorCityVIXEN on Wednesday. The X user said that the video was "wayyyy too funny not to share" and others agreed, resulting in over 26 million views in only two days.

Many people on X humorously reacted to the video with some taking the side of her male date, reiterating beliefs like, "I wanna take her side so badly but I cannot get past the 48 oysters😭," among other sentiments that viewed the four orders of oysters as unnecessary.
As many took the man's side, others took Equanaaa's side, such as TikToker @whomamagonecheckme2 in a viral reaction video posted about the matter. She brought up an interesting point, stating that men should understand the repercussions of taking out a woman who's not interested in them.

What Does Fontaine's Oyster House Have To Say?
Because the story's gone viral, Fontaine's Oyster House actually released a statement about the event. Miles Klee at Rolling Stone obtained the insider scoop, speaking with Kelcey Flanagan, the general manager of the now-famous oyster bar.
In the interview, Flanagan said that she was working that night and remembers it all being "quite funny." She also said that customers have ordered much more than Equanaaa did. For instance, one time, two ladies apparently ordered six dozen oysters each plus multiple white Russians.
