What Is A 'Diddy Blud?' The Meme Slang Term Based On Diddy, Drake And Kendrick Lamar Explained

Have you or a loved one been called a "Diddy Blud" recently? The slang term is currently taking over TikTok and middle school classrooms everywhere.
Of course, it has to do with rapper P. Diddy, who's currently standing trial for some heinous accusations, and the slang term "blud." The combination does have a meaning, but that meaning is caked in many layers of irony, which have been building up since its origin.
So, what does "Diddy Blud" mean? Where did it come from, and why is it a viral meme? Let's explain.

What Does 'Diddy Blud' Mean?
"Diddy Blud" is a combination of rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs' name and the slang term "blud," which originates from the "Bloods" street gang as a way to call someone your compatriate — an example being, "What's up young blud?"
The term "blud" saw an uptick in memetic usage in 2022, following the track of other AAVE terms turned so-called "brainrot" slang.
The term's overuse by non-Black netizens sparked ironic usage. As a reference, read about the evolution of "TS PMO ICL" from this year.
An accurate definition of "Diddy Blud" is "predator," as in someone who engages in predatory behaviors like the ones that Diddy is currently standing trial for. To be a Diddy Blud is to be a creep or a pervert.
The inclusion of "blud" is seemingly for ironic effect, as it slightly retracts the seriousness of the accusation. The "irony" at play can be seen more clearly in the term's origin.

Where Did 'Diddy Blud' Come From?
At the end of last year, a Twitter / X user named @blephin_ reposted a meme from Reddit's /r/Memes subreddit. The user was likely sharing it ironically, showing his followers that the take – that all rap music is just "the n-word and twerking" – is a bad, "cringe Redditor" take.
A user named @derpatron6000 replied to the post, seemingly donning the voice of the imagined "cringe Redditors" in question. They wrote, "Honestly I think They Not Like Us is the only mumble rap song that is good, because they call out Drake for being a Diddy blud."

The reply touched on many rap-related queries at the time, like the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which dominated trends in 2024.
Arguably, Lamar won the beef, as anti-Drake memes (basically calling him a "Diddy Blud") reached peak mainstream levels. By the time he was performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, major corporations were tweeting, "MUSTARD!" like their stock prices depended on it, making a lot of people roll their eyes online.
The high-water mark indicated the incoming revisionist spin on the whole beef: posting about Kendrick Lamar became cringe (akin to "glazing") and liking Drake became cool.
By the time @derpatron6000 hit "send" on the original "Diddy Blud" tweet, the aforementioned timeline was seemingly well understood by chronically online people, turning it into a verifiable copypasta in our post-"Not Like Us" world.

Why Are People Calling JellyBean A 'Diddy Blud?'
There's a virtual influencer (VTuber) named JellyBean who's somehow found herself mixed up in the "Diddy Blud" meme.
Over the past few years, a lot of posts calling JellyBean cringeworthy have surfaced online. Recently, this has led to a series of parody reaction videos in which a Trollge VTuber, diametrically opposed to JellyBean's whole thing, "roasts" JellyBean.
Here's an example, in which the uncanny Trollface keeps calling JellyBean a "Diddy Ahh Blud."

There are a couple moving parts to this trend, one of them being the influx of anti-"phonk" music posts, which make fun of the 2020s genre for having a young fanbase of cringy edgelords. Memes like "Patrick Bateman and Joker Lightning Eyes" are a good example of this counter-movement.
These "Diddy Blud" JellyBean videos are somehow calling phonk enjoyers and JellyBean "corny" simultaneously.
Another figure is being labeled cringe in these videos too, and that's YouTuber Packgod, who's known for his roasting prowess. However, he's recently received a hit to his cool factor, following memes like "Packgod Humble Him."
Many of these JellyBean memes use the Packgod hashtag or call him out in some other way. This means that the roasting, "sigma" Trollface character is supposed to be emulating Packgod and humorously failing at it.

What Are Some More 'Diddy Blud' Memes?
The most elaborate Diddy Blud memes try to somehow sneak in all of the abovementioned references. It will start with JellyBean yapping, the Trollface interrupting and then Packgod or Druski Dancing comes out of nowhere.
The "Diddy Blud" meme has evolved so much that, at this point, its application is almost entirely meaningless.
It looks like this meme is running out of oxygen, but who knows. Maybe there are a few more twists and turns left.
