Why Are People Throwing Slushies On Their Trucks? The TikTok 'Slushie Trend' Explained
TikTok has a reputation for spawning some of the internet's most confusing trends ever, with its fast-paced algorithm promoting more videos following any loose format faster than one can ask, "Y tho?" The TikTok Slushie Trend is one such viral sensation, pulling together people with nothing more in common than truck ownership and proximity to gas station slushie dispensers.
The @SlushieTrend hashtag on TikTok has hundreds of "Bubba Truck" owners showing off their rig and what clutters its floors before they vandalize it with a slushie of their choice.
If your friend (or your kid!) has been asking to go make a Slushie Truck video, here's everything you need to know about why people think it's a good idea to throw a frozen drink at their car at a public gas station.
Where Did The 'Slushie Trend' Originate?
Getting a gas station slushie with your friends is peak suburban teen shenanigans, and the earliest known video to show someone getting a slushie (and showing off their truck) was a January 8th, 2024 video by TikToker @brett.michaels. The clip also was the first to use the song "Bag Season" by Jay Lewis featuring Da Real Gee Money, a format that all consecutive Slushie Truck videos followed.
But the first user to actually hurl his slushie at his truck in the hopes of a viral video was @hunterboolay on January 18th, 2024. His post, which opened with him dropping dozens of Zyn boxes as he exits his truck, gathered over 14.6 million plays and 900,000 likes in ten days.

How Did The Slushie Truck Trend Video Catch On?
People began to copy @hunterboolay's Slushie video as early as January 20th, going so far as to personalize the junk that falls out of their car when they open it, and the colour of the Slushie they choose to decorate their vehicle with. TikTokers @parislock987 and @kaidan.6fo were some early adopters of the trend.

TikToker user @lillyydeniisee posted a clip wording her curiosity about the trend, with @hunterboolay came forward with why he throwed his slushie at his truck in the first place.
