Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, the Twitch streamer who made a name for himself playing Fortnite before becoming one of the biggest names video games, has announced that he's leaving Twitch, the platform that made him a star, for Mixer, Microsoft's streaming service. If you're unfamiliar with Mixer, don't feel bad. It launched under the name "Beam" in 2016, before an unceremonious rebranding to the even more ambiguous title "Mixer" the following year.

Ninja announced his departure from Twitch on Twitter. In a video in which he takes questions from himself and a Red Bull refrigerator, Blevins explains that the change is a "good chance to get back in touch with his roots and remember why [he] fell in love with streaming in the first place."

In a followup video, Ninja continued to claim that joining Microsoft's streaming service, was a way to get back to his roots--because nothing says shedding yourself of the responsibilities of stardom quite like taking an exclusive streaming contract from the second largest company in the world.

Ninja did promise that streams would remain largely the same in his follow-up video, so fans of Fortnite and kooky hair can rest easy.

In a statement to the Verge, Twitch said, "We’ve loved watching Ninja on Twitch over the years and are proud of all that he’s accomplished for himself and his family, and the gaming community. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."

So if you want to continue following Ninja, it's probably time that you signed up for Mixer. If not, you'll have to wait for YouTube's next Rewind video to see Ninja again.
