What Is The 'Sucky Tan Ducky Doo' Meme?
Back in September 2021, young TikToker @r33sq posted a video that would go on to be a major hit on the platform, racking up over 18 million views in four years.
In the video, she plays Roblox while answering questions left on one of her previous videos. One of those questions is, "Is Japanese a hard language?"
The TikToker's answer was what sounded like, "Sucky tan ducky doo," a phrase that seems to be a poorly translated and spoken version of "Sō kiita ndakedo," or "そう聞いたんだけど," meaning "That's what I heard."
This led to many callouts in the comments, with some simply finding the phrase funny and others accusing her of using Google Translate and pretending to be learning Japanese. Since then, the video has become a classic among the app's users.
