What Is The 'James Charles Mass Unfollowing?'
In early April 2025, influencer @kaylamalecc, or Kayla, posted a video to TikTok revealing that she had been in an abusive relationship with an unnamed ex-boyfriend. Her followers determined this to be influencer Evan Johnson. Kayla is also known to be friends with beauty guru James Charles.
Shortly after Evan Johnson was exposed, he was arrested on a charge of alleged domestic assault. Then, during an interview, influencer Zack Sellars claimed that Charles was in a relationship with Johnson after Kayla, despite allegedly knowing of his abuse.
This turned many people against the already controversial James Charles and naturally brought on a mass unfollowing campaign, which spread through the comment sections of TikTok videos.
