Meme Man is "officially" dead. Long live meme man.

Last Friday, YouTuber BagelBoy posted "Coda of the Cosmos," a 35-minute epic adventure that ends with the actual death of Meme Man, the digital head that has come to define the surreal meme landscape over the past five years. BagelBoy also created animations for the Riddle of the Rocks epic which helped Meme Man spread through YouTube.

The video is a massive, albeit confusing odyssey involving a surprisingly complex amount of Surreal Meme lore decipherable only to those who are deep in the surreal weeds (or W E E D S, if you will). But at the end of the video, with the surreal meme universe under attack from various cosmic forces, Meme Man appears to sacrifice himself to save the universe. Even without knowing what the hell's going on, the moment is surprisingly emotional.

According to the Surreal Memes wiki, the video signifies the "grand finale of surreal memes for a lot of (but not all) people on YouTube, officially killing off Meme Man for good."

Likely, this only means its the end of Meme Man on BagelBoy's channel and we haven't truly seen the last of Meme Man and surreal memes. Nevertheless, the video is a surprisingly affecting reminder of the power Meme Man has had in the memescape over the past several years, with popular memes ranging from Layers of Irony to Stonks. Let us remember Meme Man as he lived, and "change da world," as per his final message.
