Most gratuitously violent/depraved thing you've ever seen in comics

Simple, just post what you felt was really unnecessary content-wise.

My top two are Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch Incest from Ultimate Marvel (why, why?!) and The Rape At The Eclipse from Berserk (we get it, Griffith's a dick now).

You ever read Mai-chan's Daily Life?

Don't.

Initial reaction: Roy refuses to elaborate, thereby inducing my and possibly other thread viewers' curiosity.

First stage: open new tab, Google

List of links to stuff like MyAnimeList etc (apparently there is some kinda movie adaptation since it came up in recommended searches)

Roughly 5th one down is a link to a site simply called "guromanga.com" (I am not fucking linking to this, it would break the rules but also I do NOT want to subject other users to the horrifying content therein).

Think "huh, probably just some specific fetish site". Assumptions correct. Basically manga reader style site, but exclusively for guro

Series description reads thusly: "A young maid who cannot die is rented out by her master to paying customers to do whatever they want to her. Later, a young boy is also included. Warning: Extreme brutal violence combined with sexual pleasure. Only for hardcore guro fans. It would probably not be a good idea to have police find this on your computer in many countries."

Think to self, "well, it's just a manga … can't be that bad."

Begin reading. Cover image is maid girl, presumably eponymous Mai-chan, holding up what looks like guts on a plate. Okay, little weird.

Go on. Next we come to image where she holds up her maid skirt to reveal underwear in that typical "is this to your liking, master?" type pose. One difference, she's pierced by hooks all over. Blood running down the insides of her thighs. Bit shocked. But still determined to press on and see if it gets worse.

Get to roughly page 9 – still just cover/opening artwork, story hasn't begun yet. Literally just an image of Mai and some kid nailed together, naked, with hooks and stuff running through them.

The second half of Narutaru. The manga starts out pretty well as a mature subversion of Pokemon/Digimon stories, as well as a depiction of young girl's introduction to the concept of death. Then the author decided it wasn't edgy enough and went, "You know what this manga needs? More child rape." It gets…almost unreadable.

Crossed is really fucked up.
Murder, rape, horsecock, dolphin lung rape, this is as fucked up western comics get.

I came here JUST to mention Crossed, I saw just one picture from that comic and it fucked up my whole day. Magical Girl Apocalypse also has some fucked scenes, but they are pretty few and far between.

Here, you might need this

Some of the comics that Garth Ennis has written, Crossed included, have really intense and/or fucked up moments.

The only thing I can think of right now is that in his run of Punisher Max, he just goes and shows a guy with his entrails out in the open.

So… has anyone read the Crow?

Great comic, in my opinion better than the movie, but holy shit the violence in that comic is hardcore as fuck. The whole book, when focusing on him killing the bad guys, is extremely violent.

For example, in this scene…

He pretty much kills everyone here, and the blood is very gratuitous. O' Barr does not fuck around.

The scene that this is from is literally Eric killing like 20 Detroit thugs for like 30 pages in grotesque detail.

The actual death scene is extremely horrible, unlike the movie (which was just dumb imho). Their car breaks down on I-75, and they're met by some horrible thugs. They harass Eric's girlfriend Shelly, and Eric tries to fight back, but they shoot him in the head – he doesn't die though, he's just completely paralyzed. He watches his girlfriend be brutally raped, killed, then raped some more, unable to do anything, before passing out and waking up in the hospital, where they realize he's going to die.

One thing I like about the Crow is that it really focuses on specific bad guys in a much more realistic sense than the movie ever did. Funboy, the guy who raped his GF after killing her, has a plot thread that lasts about half of the comic and it keeps you on your toes, and the way he kills him is so fucking great. Not spoiling that for anyone.

I fucking love the Crow though so it's all good. If you can handle the violence I recommend reading it. Despite the violence it's a great revenge story and there are some really sweet sub plots that show that Eric is actually a really good guy. If you want to sit down and read a 250 page comic, pick this up, I do recommend it.

Also, although the comic is much tamer than the Crow in comparison, Ode to Kirihito has a fucked up scene where they force the main character to be raped by a female dog. Welp!

To be fair, what happened at the eclipse had purpose and wasn't just rape because the author felt like it.

Meanwhile in Wolf Guy a main character gets raped for nearly 30 chapters… and it's not even technically hentai.

To answer your question though, I want to say some Junji Ito works (like Gyo or Uzumaki), but those are horror series so I can somewhat accept them.

Then again, the part about the baby being sewn back into the mother in Uzumaki might have been pretty unnecessarily disturbing…
